INFORMATION ABOUT THE TERRITORY

The development of Berceto is due to the passage of the Via Francigena that connected the Po Valley with Tuscany and, therefore, with Rome. The road network became particularly important in the 11th and 13th centuries, when it became one of the main routes for pilgrims going to Rome. In the early years of the eighth century, King Liutprand had the monastery called Berceto built on top of Mount Bardone.
