The Nature Reserve of Torrile and Trecasali extends for about 109 hectares in the territory of the municipalities of Torrile and Sissa-Trecasali. Inside the nature reserve there are a series of microenvironments that, besides being ideal for the development of some plant and animal species, offers ideal conditions for many species of migratory birds such as the Knight of Italy who nests or stops here during the winter before migrating to warmer places.

The flora of the Nature Reserve is the result of artificial introductions made over 25 years by man and the natural dynamics that have taken over. It is mainly thanks to the Lorno and Galasso canals that many wild plants have been able to recolonize the banks of the canals and the pools of water. The deep open waters are covered with the large oval leaves of the Nannufero and the Ninfea Bianca where between May and September you can watch the wonderful spectacle of their flowering.

In the woods we find trees such as elm, blackthorn, elder and black poplar. In addition to the many species of resident and migrant birds of prey, there are also many varieties of birds of prey such as barn owls, sparrow hawks and buzzards.
