Emilia-Romagna is composed of two historical regions: Emilia, which includes the provinces of Piacenza, Parma, Reggio, Modena, Ferrara and much of the province of Bologna, with the capital, and Romagna, with the remaining provinces of Ravenna, Rimini, Forlì – Cesena and the eastern part of the province of Bologna. The areas that make up the current region are populated since ancient times, and there are many sites of historical and cultural interest that you can visit on its territory: the most famous case is the site of Monte Poggiolo, near Forlì, where thousands of artifacts were found dating back to about 800,000 years ago. The many natural resources and excellent cuisine, combined with a skillful ability to enhance the tourist resources, make it a destination of great charm for all in any season of the year.
