The Parish Church of Varsi is located in the town centre, overlooking Piazza Monumento, in an area of great historical importance since ancient times.

Its geographical location places it in the fulcrum of communications between the Po Valley and Tuscany, a bridge between Northern and Central Italy.

The present building is now in modern forms compared to the original medieval ones.

The neo-Romanesque facade is in salient, in exposed brick, with a plinth in exposed stone ashlars, hidden in the corners by pillars in exposed stone ashlars.

In the central, lower part there is the only portal, with a rectangular, arched, splayed light, with a fresco depicting St. Peter the Apostle and Christ in the centre of the lunette. In the upper part there is a splayed rose window.

At the back, the semicircular apse has a central orbicular window. The bell tower stands isolated on the left of the church, opposite the façade. It stands on a high stone ashlar base.

It has a square, exposed brick plan with corner stone ashlar pilasters and ends with a belfry perforated on four sides by rectangular openings with twin columns.

Inside, the central nave, divided into six bays covered by barrel vaults partly with lunettes, is separated from the sides by wide round arches in correspondence with the nails and the windows that enclose them, alternating with rectangular openings in the shorter bays; massive rectangular pillars stand in support of the arches, decorated with marble pilasters crowned with Doric and Corinthian capitals; a deep stucco cornice runs along the perimeter.

The apsidal presbytery, slightly raised, opens onto the nave with a large round arch; the barrel vault and the apsidal basin are decorated with frescoes.

The two chapels house a confessional and the organ respectively.

The church is dedicated to St. Peter the Apostle.
