The Pieve di Gusaliggio is located in the village of the same name inside the town, with a north-south orientation, preceded by a large churchyard which is accessed by side stone steps.

The gabled facade is entirely covered with regular stone ashlars, it is tripartite with two pilasters made of alternating rectangular and square stones. Centrally stands the round portal with Corinthian semi-columns to support the arch, decorated with bas-reliefs with floral motifs. Higher up is a large rose window bordered by a cornice; at the end stand the two massive pilasters.

At the back the rectory, the sacristy and the presbytery perforated at the sides by rectangular windows. The bell tower on the left side stands against the presbytery.

In 1704 the church was completely rebuilt in baroque forms, thus modifying its original appearance.

In 1912, due to serious subsidence of the floor, major renovation work involved the removal of the burials, the lowering of the trampling height by 60 cm and the decoration of the walls and vaults in neo-Gothic style.

In 1965 the temple was restored, also raising a new neo-Romanesque stone facade.

The church is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta.
