The parish church of Castelnovo has a simple gabled façade and a single entrance door aligned with the nave. Above the door there is a rectangular window. Two doors are also found in the aisles, one on each side.

The massive eighteenth-century restoration work conceals much of the original appearance of the parish church. The interior has a basilica plan with three naves, divided by large brick pillars. The roof is made up of wooden beams on which are placed big brick planks and, therefore, the tiles. The presbytery, raised two steps higher than the hall, is marked by four pilasters, two on each side, a stucco cornice and has a cross-shaped roof.

In the high altar there is an inverted Roman slab with ornamental motifs, used as a canteen. At the head of the right side aisle it is possible to appreciate a portion of the fresco that is presented with coloured stripes with a curvilinear trend reminiscent of the waves, thus attributable to the miraculous fishing.

The bell tower is detached from the church, to the south, obtained from the mighty medieval tower that testifies the presence of a fortification.
