The Pieve di Caneto is located in the village of the same name, in a particular position at the foot of Mount Caio. It is thanks to the latter in fact that the parish church, and the village, are protected from the cold winter breezes and heated, thanks to the return of heat by the rocks typical of this area, thus allowing the reduction of the temperature range and the cultivation of vines.

The antiquity of the parish church of Caneto is testified by the small sandstone sculpture on the counter-façade depicting a warrior with a spear in his hands.

The exterior has a gabled façade with a double sloping roof, a small rose window in the upper part in axis with the recovery niche embedded in the wall where there is a white marble tile depicting St. John the Baptist, and the sandstone portal below. The lower part of the portal jambs have sculptures depicting natural elements and lilies. To the left of the façade, stands the bell tower with a square base built in stone.

Inside, the building has a Latin cross plan with a rectangular nave and two side chapels, concluded by a flat apse. The nave has a barrel roof, as well as the apse, while the two side chapels have vaulted ceilings. The interior has no pictorial decorations except for the ribbing, the cornices and the arches that interrupt the white plaster on the rest of the internal structure.

The parish church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
