The parish church of Basilicagoiano, dedicated to Santo Stefano, is located in Montechiarugolo in the hamlet of Basilicagoiano. There are no elements to establish whether the current building, of sixteenth-century origin, was built on the ruins of the ancient church or what was the exact location of the latter. The first attestation of its presence is dated 1199 and it is found inside a bull, in which Pope Innocent III nominates the church of Santo Stefano about its state of dependence on the bishop of Piacenza.

The facade maintains the eighteenth-century portal, bordered by a frame trabeata in relief, and assumes a hut shape, almost completely covered in brick, while on the sides there are two pilasters with Doric capitals at the top. The eighteenth-century portal is located centrally and slightly protruding from the body of the structure. At the top, lying on a stringcourse, stands a three-mullioned window separated by side columns, surmounted by Corinthian capitals.

The bell tower is grafted onto the south side of the church, has a masonry shaft plastered and is concluded by a pyramidal spire high conical. Inside, the church is covered by barrel vaults with lunettes, while round arches rise from the side chapels. The centre of the presbytery houses the stone altar.
