The oasis of Cronovilla is located in a hilly area and is part of a large historical context that includes the territories of Matilda. The oasis extends along the left bank of the Enza stream in the municipality of Traversetolo and is surrounded by the Termina stream and the Spelta canal on the east, north and west sides respectively, strongly characterizing it from a geographical and environmental point of view.

In the area there are many artificial lakes unique in their kind as they are the result of many years of gravel extraction from the subsoil. Thanks to the water table that guarantees the continuous presence of water, the oasis has a river-like ecosystem with river zones, reed beds and riparian woods inside that allow the development of a varied and lush vegetation.

The area, thanks to its proximity to the Enza torrent, has immediately revealed an enormous naturalistic potential, especially in terms of fauna, which is confirmed by the large influx of birds that have always found refuge there during the autumn and spring migrations.

To date, 188 species of birds have been recorded in Cronovilla and, in order to observe them better, the area has been equipped with numerous birdwatching facilities including 22 wooden observatories where you can watch the migration of very special species of migratory birds.
