INFORMATION ABOUT THE TERRITORY

In the heart of the Po Valley lies the city of Fidenza, located a few kilometers from the cities of Parma, Piacenza and Cremona and ideal for those seeking a welcoming place for a short visit or for longer stays. An opportunity to admire the historical and artistic heritage, enjoy a walk or bike ride in the hills or go shopping.

The main attraction of the city is represented by the Cathedral dedicated to San Donnino, a splendid example of Romanesque Emilian-Lombard, dating from the twelfth century. The facade has a remarkable sculptural apparatus with friezes, statues and bas-reliefs, the result of the intervention of Benedetto Antelami and his workshop. Next to the Cathedral is the Museum of the Duomo and Diocesan of Fidenza, where its historical and artistic heritage is preserved. A few steps from the Duomo stands the massive Medieval Tower, which was a bulwark of defense and gateway to the city, and where today is located the Antiquarium. The Municipal Theatre, inaugurated in 1861, is dedicated to the genius Girolamo Magnani from Fidenza, who took care of the interior decoration; the Town Hall dominates Piazza Garibaldi. The Ursuline Palace houses the Museum of the Risorgimento and the Museum of Fossils.

Fidenza is crossed by the Via Francigena and the route from the hamlet of Castione Marchesi continues in the historic centre, to the Pieve di Cabriolo, up to Siccomonte.

A few kilometers from the city center, near the motorway exit Fidenza-Salsomaggiore Terme, is the commercial heart of the city composed of the Fidenza Village Outlet, with over 120 national and international brands, and the Fidenza Shopping Park, with shops dedicated to clothing, home, electronics and leisure.

From Fidenza you can easily reach other places of interest, such as Salsomaggiore Terme, Verdi’s Places, the Fortresses and Castles and the city of Parma.

Borgo Food, scheduled for October on the occasion of its patron saint, which is celebrated on 9 October, is the most important event. Dedicated to food and wine, it welcomes exhibitors and producers of excellent food and crafts, there is no shortage of entertainment, theater and music.
